mothers-in-law

so there we were, my mother-in-law and I, sitting across from each other in MY house, when she says..."you've gained a lot of weight, haven't you?". hmmmmmm...how do you answer that? something like...yup...and your face has gotten an assload more of wrinkles OR and you're looking mighty dang old OR and your son definitely gets his looks AND manners from his father OR...well, you get the idea. SO...i responded with "nope...i've been this fat for quite some time now".

i seem to remember somewhere that you can't choose your relatives...in-laws?...guess it's too late to change now.

it's my first time...

yea...it's been a LONG time since i uttered those words. the only reason that i'm writing in this stupid journal is because it's the one task on my work "to do" list that i've been slack about (mrbri would probably disagree, but that's a whole 'nother entry).

this past weekend was loads of fun; i kept my grandchildren (Kaitlyn 2 yrs. old and Jacob 9 months old). Kaitlyn is absolutely hilarious. When asked in a sweet, sweet voice by her aunt, "who do you love?"...she replied, "Pinky" (my 8 yr. old black lab). soooo, aunt lisa asked her again with more sugar added, to which kaitlyn replied, "Nana" (that's ME). lisa tried a different approach and asked kaitlyn if she loved Papa (Kenny, my husband). kaitlyn looked at lisa very seriously and pointing to the bedroom, replied papa's gone to bed. apparently, kaitlyn's love remains in the confines of the room that she happens to be in.

my daughter, kendra, has spent a lot of time with kaitlyn teaching her things - colors, shapes, ABCs, parts of the body, etc., so you can imagine how mortified she was when kenny asked kaitlyn what color those red pants were that she was wearing...the pants were actually purple.
